Former Bush press secretary Scott McClellan told Congress under oath Friday what he never said from the White House lectern – that top officials misled the country about Iraq and are still concealing the truth about leaking a CIA operative's name.
Said Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, "Couldn't you have taken this to the grave with you and done this country a favor?"

Just copy and paste Steve King's quote into a Google search, and have fun watching all the fireworks.
My favorite? The comments posted at "Crooks and Liars." (http://www.crooksandliars.com/2008/06/20/rep-steve-king-r-ia-to-mcclellan-why-couldnt-you-just-shut-up/)
They even have video footage of the hoof-in-mouth statement by King. Some of the best comments, however, include the following:
"Do we have an ActBlue candidate to oppose this piece of shit?" (by Matt in Texas)...
"Too bad you can't just take garbage like this guy out and dump it." (by Klown)
"As an Iowan I would like to assure you that almost every other citizen in this state is MUCH MUCH MUCH smarter than Rep King. Damn……that’s embarrassing." (by Musk)
And, on a more somber note, Harley says...
"Thanks Iowa," to which JaimeFuffufnik replies "Forgive us."
Therein lies Iowa's (5th District) biggest problem: the ill- mis-informed who actually voted for this racist/misogynist/bigoted college drop-out make all western Iowa voters look ignorant.
Believe me. We all didn't. And we're not.
What we are is embarrassed by those who did. We try. Ohhhhh, how we try to educate them. But if ignorance is truly bliss, then Iowa's 5th District republicans must be living in dark ecstasy.
They certainly got what they paid for.
Jodi, you need to leave politics...your a "wanna be"
In response to Anonymous, hey, at least I have the courage to sign my own name. (Which, BTW, is spelled with a "y.") And, believe me, I've "tried" to leave politics (several times, in fact), but "they" won't let me. They love me too much. :-) You see, I don't just post the occasional "Anonymous" comment on a blog with which I disagree; after all, talk is cheap. I walk the walk and get involved, and that requires effort, commitment, and yes, a lot of hard work.
A wanna be? You're absolutely right. I wanna be involved and try to make a difference. I wanna see change and more transparency in government and polices affecting people like you and me. I wanna ensure Iowa's Fifth District constituents get the representation they've earned and deserve. (Yes, that includes you, too.) And I wanna cheer the day Rob Hubler is sworn into office and that representation finally begins.
Oh yes. Without question, I'm most certainly a wanna be. And darn proud of it.
My political activism is hardly a secret. So, what do you do to try and make a difference?
